Regarded as one of the prettiest villages in south Norfolk, Pulham Market has a picturesque green surrounded by thatched cottages, a medieval church and a centuries-old alehouse; the quintessential English village.
But while local residents are proud of this rich heritage, the village is far from a quaint and sleepy corner of rural Norfolk. Modern-day Pulham Market is a thriving and active community with a rich seam of clubs and organisations, its own primary school and pre-school, a busy surgery, two churches, Post Office and general stores, two pubs, and farming, commercial and artisan activities.
The Green and its adjacent Memorial Hall are part of the village centre conservation area and the focus for many activities which bring villagers and visitors together. The village is one of the few in Norfolk to hold its own annual carnival, complete with parade of floats, and the annual Pulham Market Music Day festival draws in musical talent and music lovers from across the region. There is even a village orchestra!
Parishioners enjoy a wide array of enjoyable events throughout the year, such as horticultural shows, performances by the talented Pulham Players, sporting and artistic events and a full programme of community and church activities.
Whether visiting or living in Pulham Market, you can dip in as you please or dive in and become fully immersed in village life.
